Generosity

Glancing up at my subscription status reminded me that I was nearing the end of it. It struck me as a little funny, since thanks to winning some contests a few years back I haven't had to buy myself one since... oh, 2007? Someone (and I won't say who) said recently that when his subscription ran out, all he did was mention it and within six minutes some generous soul had resubscribed him. I'm not surprised. Not having to buy subscriptions for myself for a few years has let me stealth-subscribe several deviants, give subs out for prizes, and in a couple of cases, give subscriptions I'd won away to other people who needed them more than me. We're a community, and we look out for each other.

I've already bought myself another subscription (yay for automatic renewals). I can afford it. But...

I've put together a list below of some really amazing artists who for one reason or another (at the time of this writing) don't have subscriptions. If you're one of those generous community members who likes to do random good deeds... why not surprise subscribe some of these people?

Go ahead, make someone else's day!

Let's turn some of these ~ into * :

This list was compiled semi-randomly from the people who I watch. I watch a LOT of people, so this is really just a small selection

Update

WOW. They're ALL subscribed now. Wicked. You guys totally rock. Seriously. So how about this? Send me a link to a dA artist who YOU think rocks and deserves a subscription, but doesn't have one. I'll make a second box featuring those artists below.

Update2

I've heard back from some of the artists above who are surprised and delighted to find themselves subscribed. Some of them (specifically *sandara and ~chicourano ) have been looking for the person who gave them their subscriptions to thank. If you're the one and don't mind stepping forward, drop them a note. :D

If you didn't get a chance to do a good deed with the last go round, you'll find a list below of several more deviants that have been suggested by others.

Recent events in my life have really struck home for me how important it is to be kind, and do charitable things with no expectation of reward or accolades for it. Compassion is a rare commodity. Kindness and charity, too. If you've any yourself, plant it where it can grow. It will be appreciated, and you never know how even the smallest gesture will change a person's life.

The following deviants were suggested by other members. Still feeling generous? Check them out!

Untitled Secondary ProjectPrologue

Alina Fakhriyya glanced again behind her and pulled her veil up over the bridge of her nose. She took a deep breath and tightened the belt around her skirt. Hanging from the leather strap around her waist was a soft calfskin pouch filled with golden coins and small gems. It wasn’t much, to her reckoning, but it was probably enough to get her transport out of Zaman without too many questions.
With one last look at the room in which she’d spent her life since she was old enough to have womanly curves, Alina disappeared through the faceted window. The streets were quiet, particularly at the early hour of the morning, and she
The DanceI glanced up at him uncertainly, adjusting the mask over my face even as I did so. His hand was still extended toward me and there was a smile playing at his lips and in the eyes behind the half-mask that he was wearing.
“Uh…” I said, looking down at the short, lace gloves on my hands.
“She’d love to,” my friend responded for me and shoved me out of my seat.
I stumbled and the man who’d just asked me to dance quickly moved to steady me. I blushed furiously behind my full mask and hoped that he didn’t notice.
“Are you alright?” he asked, just loud enough to be heard over the music.
“M
Debris of a LifetimeKaylee leaned out, gripping the ladder in one hand and reaching for James with the other.
“Don’t worry about me, Kaylee!” James called over the din. “I’ll be fine, just get yourself out!”
“James, if you stay, I stay. We’ve got each other’s backs, no matter what, remember? I’m not leaving you here!”
“I can’t hold on much longer!” James gasped, his hands starting to slip off the broken railing. “Just get out of here while you still can!”
“NO!” Kaylee screamed as his hands slipped off the one thing keeping him alive. She seized his wrist before he could

*shrug* I don't see what people complain about. I haven't had a subscription ever nor do I care about it one way or the other. Their complaint about the adds just seem silly to me.

I think it's a neat idea that you're showing others that it's ok to be giving with a community like this. That's one of the things I like about DA, while I might not know anyone but a few on here in real life, I've got a nice band of friends and I have the opportunity to see some amazing artwork and meet some great people.

If you are still accepting suggestions: [link] and [link]

And I love to see a journal like this instead of one begging for a subscription for you "plzzzz LOL" This has dignity and is completely selfless.

I did give one to someone. It was :iconpinkparasol:. It actually felt really nice to donate one, and she was really excited about it when she came back from her vacation and saw it. ^_^
