A speed paint I did for a challenge over at Pixelbrush.net. The theme was Masquerade. I've always thought that it's a bit odd that when we draw peacocks we associate them with beautiful women... when the male birds are really the beautiful ones. So this was my attempt at making a masculine peacock mask design.

How'd I do?

Around two hours in Painter... mostly fiddling with making new brushes and playing with the impasto effects. This is, admittedly sloppier than I usually paint. It makes a lovely effect but I'm not sure if I could do paintings like this all the time. I keep wanting to refine them further.

Amazing. He looks incredible. I want to see him without the mask. The mask is fantastic. I love the details. And it does look "sloppier", but I like it for this piece. Great work!!

I really like this picture. The mask is cool. Scary, in its own peacock-ish way-- it looks sort of like a cross between a peacock and an eagle-- but very cool.
